Run Wise

Running should be fun??   Yes

Running should be easy?? Yes

Running should hurt?? No!!

Running and walking are the simplest forms of exercise… one foot in front of the other… but why does it get so complicated??

Over the years more and more research has been done on running and whilst this has been excellent for progressing the sport, it has made what should be a simple activity more confusing, especially for those new to the running. What shoes should I wear? What cadence should I be using? What type of gait should I be using when running?

Who is the Run Wise session for ?

  • Those new to running or walking.

  • Those who have been running for a while and are stuck or not improving as much as they would like. What's your goal?

  • Those who become injured time after time.

The sessions are run by Esher Townsend, she is passionate about running and helping people run injury free. “It's really sad when you hear people say they’d love to run, but they are ‘not made to do it’, or they gave up because of an injury. I believe everyone should be able to run or walk and enjoy it”.

What is ‘Run Wise’

This session runs for 90 minutes.

  • Strength: assess where your strengths are and where you can make improvements. Strength is the keystone for running.

  • Gait: watch you run (treadmill or outside). Looking at technique, stride length, landing pattern, arm movements etc

  • In Shoe Pressure Measurement: allows us to see what is happening between your foot, the shoe and the ground.

  • Footwear: using experience with shoe technology and the data gathered from the pressure mapping, are you wearing the right shoe?

  • Training: is your run training contributing to your injuries? need a guide to help improve your running? not sure where to start

  • Age/Hormones: runners over the age of forty suffer from different injuries to those in their twenties, menopause affects everything!

What do you get?

Due to the Covid-19 situation, we are offering this session via telehealth (video call). We can do all of the testing, except the In-Shoe Pressure Measurement testing. We are using a 'tier system' for payments for this service at the moment, a pay it forward offer. We appreciate that earnings have been affected by loss of income and jobs, but we'd hate not to be able to help you because of this. Please email us for more information.
